Commercial Calligrapher Rin Noguchi Announces New York Solo Exhibition “新欲 — NEW DESIRE —” in Brooklyn

Exhibition runs October 3–11, 2026 at Brooklyn Beauty Fashion Labo, with a reception on October 10

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — Japanese commercial calligrapher Rin Noguchi will present the New York solo exhibition “新欲 — NEW DESIRE —” from October 3 through October 11, 2026, at Brooklyn Beauty Fashion Labo, 300 7th Street, Brooklyn, New York 11215.

The exhibition explores the idea of “Drawing New Desires,” presenting Noguchi’s approach to calligraphy as a contemporary visual practice that extends beyond traditional written expression.

Rather than treating characters only as language, Noguchi develops them as visual forms that can communicate mood, identity, movement, and atmosphere. Through bold brushwork and design-based composition, the exhibition presents characters as expressive visual elements with their own presence and energy.

Noguchi describes her practice as Commercial Calligraphy, a field that transforms and designs the visual image of characters to match the purpose and worldview of products, brands, advertisements, spaces, and other creative applications.

This approach distinguishes her work from conventional calligraphy by combining the expressive qualities of hand-drawn characters with the needs of contemporary branding, design, communication, and spatial presentation.

Alongside the exhibition works, the project also introduces examples of how Noguchi’s calligraphy can be applied commercially, including logos, signage, branding, packaging, advertising, and other visual design applications.

A special reception will take place on October 10, providing visitors an additional opportunity to experience the exhibition during its final weekend.

About Rin Noguchi

Rin Noguchi is a Japanese commercial calligrapher whose work reinterprets calligraphy for contemporary visual culture.

Her practice focuses on transforming and designing the visual image of characters to suit the purpose and worldview of products, brands, advertisements, spaces, and other creative projects.

By combining expressive brushwork with design thinking, Noguchi creates calligraphy for both artistic presentation and commercial applications, including logos, signage, branding, packaging, and visual communication.

ニューヨーク・ブルックリン — 商業書道家 Rin Noguchi は、2026年10月3日から10月11日まで、ニューヨーク・ブルックリンの BROOKLYN BEAUTY FASHION LABO にて、個展 「新欲 — NEW DESIRE —」 を開催いたします。

本展では、「新しい欲望を、描く。」 をテーマに、従来の書道という枠を超えた、Rin Noguchi独自の現代的な文字表現を紹介します。

文字を単なる言語として捉えるのではなく、感情、個性、動き、空気感を伝える視覚表現として再構築し、力強い筆致とデザイン性を融合させた作品を展開します。

Rin Noguchiが提唱する 「商業書道（Commercial Calligraphy）」 とは、商品、ブランド、広告、空間などの目的や世界観に合わせて、文字の視覚的イメージを変化・設計する仕事です。

従来の書道とは異なり、手描きの文字が持つ表現力と、現代のブランディング、デザイン、広告、空間演出などを組み合わせることで、新しい文字表現の可能性を追求しています。

本展では、作品展示に加え、ロゴ、サイン、ブランディング、パッケージ、広告など、Noguchiの書が商業分野でどのように活用できるかについても紹介します。

会期中の 10月10日には特別レセプションを開催予定。会期終盤に、作品と空間をより深く体感していただける機会となります。
